Version 1.1 of FormBlaster added the following new features and capabilities:
- Enabled XP theme support on systems running Windows XP™ – the program will now have a more modern look when running on Windows XP.
- Replaced contacts grid with more sophisticated component that allows dynamic filtering and groupings (ExpressQuantumGrid from Developer Express)
- Changed the Zip Code field to Postal Code in order to more easily support international customers
- Added Country field to the contacts database in order to more easily support international customers.
- Added five fields (custom fields) that can be used to store any 20 character string value – this allows you to populate one or more fields with data that can then be used in message content, customized attachments and when grouping or filtering records on the grid.
- Added processing fields (Status and Error fields) that can be used to identify who was processed and who failed due to an error.
- Changed the orientation of the Process button when the project is in test mode, more clearly indicating whether messages will actually be sent to the contact instead of to a test address.
- Added the ability to print the contacts grid.
- Added the ability to only process selected contacts in the grid.
- Added the ability to only process the visible contacts in the grid. When you group contacts in the contacts grid, you can have the program only process those records that are expanded (visible).
- Added the ability to send an email to the selected contact.
- Added the ability to add contacts, edit existing contacts and delete one or more contacts.
- Enabled Message Content Processing by default in all new projects since users often forget to set this setting on their own and send out messages with fields names instead of custom content.
This version also removed the following:
- Removed the Birth Date field from the contacts table – the field was migrated to FormBlaster projects will need to be upgraded before you can use them with this version of FormBlaster. Projects are automatically upgraded when they are opened.
This version is in final testing and should be released by November 1, 2005. If you would like to play around with a pre-release version of the program, you can download the program or the user guide.
